“I Pledged”

Be a Responsible Driver

Active Balanced Community representatives attended the graduation practice for all of the schools except Monroe High and Bedford – where representatives attended the after-graduation event (Club 08 and Bedford Send Off).
Graduates were asked to sign a pledge to drive responsibly – obey the speed limit, wear their seat belts, don’t drink and drive, don’t drive if too tired, and don’t talk on the cell phone or have other distractions.
In return, graduates were given an “I pledged” waterproof ID carrier with the ABC and ISD logo and Class of 2008 imprinted. Those signing the pledge were entered into a drawing for $20 gas cards. Two cards were given out at all of the schools, except Monroe High and Bedford – where three cards were awarded.

•	With the exception of SMCC, all the seniors had completed classes by the time we made our visits. That should be kept in mind when the ratios of pledges to graduates are considered.
The ABC I Pledge committee wants to thank the ISD for their generosity in sponsoring the event by purchasing the ID carriers.
