The board of directors if you will for the project. This committee is made up of community leaders and juvenile justice system representatives.
The role of the Steering Committee in real simple terms is:
- Take the information from the workgroups and build a 5-year plan that will address the needs of youth and family in our county
Goal: Make a positive difference in the lives of youth and families.
- Determine where local, state and even federal policies need to be changed to address our needs and move toward change
Goal: Community built and supported programs and services for youth and families that allow our kids to become productive adults.
The Steering Committee is responsible for:
- Mobilizing the Planning Team - for most part this is done (11-4-03)
- Reviewing and recommending changes to State and local laws and policies related to BRC
- Subcommittee chaired by Mike Weipert- Monroe County Prosecutor
- Working with Site Coordinator to monitor workgroup progress
- Hiring an evaluator - done Mark Creekmore is on board as evaluator
- Working with Outreach/Communication/Media to develop vision/mission/values for team
- Creating the final 5-year plan with implementation timetables and an evaluation framework for monitoring implementation
- Subcommittee chaired by Mike Hoydic- United Way of Monroe County Executive Officer
- Developing the application/method for continued funding
- Subcommittee chaired by Christopher Smith- SEMCA Cheif Operating Officer
