Celebrate Children is an annual event in Monroe County Michigan. Even though the weather outside was beautiful, families came in large numbers to take part in the activities, see the performances and gather some important imformation about services for families in Monroe. Active Balanced Community provided an opportunity for kids to understand “community” by contributing to the wall mural and take home a print of their hand. Please be patient waiting for these photos to load, there are 18 of them. Thanks to all of the families who came to Celebrate Children and participated. Enjoy! The Active Balanced Community Initiative was there with hand stamping that allowed the kids to take home a souvenir and show their community support! Development Co-Coordinator, Sandie Pierce, helps a child decide on which color to paint her hand. Active Balanced Community Development Co-Coordinator, April Corie, assists a child with imprinting the mural. A large crowd turned out at the Frenchtown Mall for Celebrate Children 2005. Children made their handprint on the “I am my community wall”. Kids could take home a bracelet, a print of their hand and... contribute to the wall mural of “I am my community!” The children enjoyed getting a little dirty, but they were cleaned up before they left the booth. There was plenty for everyone to do.
