The service drew a large crowd of families.

Volunteers worked to input all of the data into a state of the art system for Child Identification.

The Michigan State Police helped at the event.

The group's goal for the day was to record 300 children in Monroe.

First, dental impressions were taken of each child.

Next a swab was taken from the inside of their cheek for DNA identification.

The volunteers, placed the child's dental impression, DNA swab and printed information for the parents in a zip lock bag for safe keeping.

Then each family moved on to the finger printing, video taping area.

After filling out a detailed form about each child, one by one, the kids were electronically finger printed, which meant no messy ink on little fingers!

Each child had their picture taken with a digital camera in which they are holding up a sign that has their name, date and Monroe Michigan on it.

The back drop of each picture is a chart that shows the height of the child.

Some kids needed a little comfort from mom or dad. Being the center of this much attention can be a scary!

In addition to getting records of each child, this event familiarized kids with law enforcement officers so they know, these guys are your friends!

In addition to still digital pictures, each child was given a microphone to speak into. They said their name on camera and answered a few questions.

All of this digital information was burned to a CD for the parents to take home and keep in a safe place. We hope none of them will ever need to use it. Stay Safe!
Thanks to all of the volunteers who helped make this possible for the children and families of Monroe County.
